Jammu, April 21: Kargil received the first batch of Iran evacuees on Tuesday. The 57 Iran returnees went through the mandatory quarantine period in Iran and were finally brought to Kargil through a special flight.
Divisional Commissioner/ Secretary of Union Territory of Ladakh Saugat Biswas announced it on social networking site Twitter.
He said, “UT Administration is happy to announce homecoming of the 1st batch of 57 Iran returnees to Kargil post quarantine. Special flight from Hindon landed at Kargil at 11:15 AM. Administration is actively pursuing return of next batch tomorrow.”
He also said that Ladakh Connect, a website (https://connect.ladakh.gov.in) which was started to address the grievances of people of Ladakh who are stranded outside has successfully reached 6500+ registrations. Over 1000 grievances of Ladakhis outside Ladakh have been redressed so far.
Scores of people from Kargil, Leh and Kashmir are stranded in different parts of Iran and India. In Jaisalmar Rajasthan, there are Kashmiri students who have completed their quarantine period but are unable to land in Kashmir due to suspension on air and surface transport.
