AKS Digiana enter semis of Hockey

JAMMU, Dec 22:  Akali Kour Singh Club Digiana today qualified for the semifinals of the Ist Chaar Sahibzade Hockey Tournament, organised by Akali Kour Singh Sports Club under the aegis of Hockey J&K at K K Hakhu Stadium, here.

The match, scheduled for tomorrow, was pre-poned on the request of the club by the organisers. In the quarterfinals, Akali Kour Singh Club defeated Aman Khalsa Lachipura 5-3.

Sikander (26th and 43rd), Ranish (40th and 54th) and Sunil (58th) were the scorers. From Aman Khalsa, Harvinder (7th), Randeep (9th and 15th) were the scorers.

In the meantime, two other sides of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Club and Khalsa Club Gole Gujral won their respective matches to reach the quarterfinals stages of the competition.

In the first round of pre-quarterfinals, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Club beat Baba Deep Singh Club Gole Gujral 4-2.  Similarly, Khalsa Club blanked Harmanan Club Digiana 6-0.

Raman Sharma, Deputy Advocate General High Court of J&K; Avtar Singh Khalsa Harminder Singh (Chief Prosecuting Officer), Jathedar Mohinder Singh, member DGPC and Manmohan Singh, member DGPC were special guests in today’s matches.

Today’s matches officiated by the technical penal including Joginder Singh, Balmeet Singh, Angat Singh, R P Singh Sarna, Karanjit Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Ranjeet Singh and Harmanan Singh.

FIXTURE: Quarterfinals: Singh Warriors Gole Gujral to meet Champion Club Jammu at 1 pm while Khalsa Club Gole Gujral to meet MBS Simbal Camp at 2.30 pm tomorrow.
