All India Urdu Mushaira enthrals Jammuites

JAMMU, Jan 28: As a part of the celebrations of 70th Republic Day, an all India Urdu Mushaira was held here at Abhinav Theatre, this evening.

Organized by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, renowned poets from across the country read their poetry in the function attended by a large gathering of Urdu lovers, scholars, academicians, poets, and writers. World famous Urdu Poet Khushbir Singh Shad Presided over the Mushaira.

While extending the formal welcome to all the poets participating in the Mushaira, other dignitaries and the audience, Dr. Arvinder Singh Aman, Add. Secretary Academy stated that Academy has been holding the All India Mushaira annually for more than 3 decades to celebrate the Annual Republic Day.

He further said that the Mushaira over the decades has become a permanent feature for lovers of Urdu poetry who attend this Mushaira on this particular date at Abhinav Theatre every year.  He said Urdu is one of the richest languages in our country, which has a strong tradition of poetry with regard to communal harmony and togetherness of different identities of the state, in particular.

In his address, Khushbir Singh Shad said that JKAACL is doing a commendable job for promotion of art, culture and languages of the state. He made a special mention of the role of the JKAACL towards the promotion and preservation of the Urdu language in the state. He also appreciated the participating poets for their wonderful recitation of poetry.
