Armed Police Sports meet from Dec 26

JAMMU, Dec 23: Annual Inter-Battalion Sports meet of Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police shall be held at different venues here from December 26. The five-day is expected to be declared open by the Director General of J&K Police, Dilbag Singh at Gulshan Ground, here.

The competition, involving around 1000 athletes both men and women as also the Gazetted Officers (GOs) from 33 such units (battalions), shall be held in both team and individual events.

It has been reliably learnt that the competition shall be held in Football, Athletics, Hockey, Basketball, Kabaddi, Tug of War, Weightlifting, Boxing, Shooting, Wushu, Judo, Archery, Handball and Volleyball in different ranks of non-gazetted. However, the GOs shall compete in Lawn Tennis, Table Tennis, Badminton and Shooting.

The Kabaddi, Handball and Volleyball team events shall be held at District Police Lines (DPL) grounds while Basketball, Tug of War, Weightlifting, Wushu, Judo and Archery shall take place at Gulshan Ground premises. The Badminton competition shall be held at DPL Indoor Hall while Lawn Tennis and Table Tennis shall be organised at GOs Mess complex.  All the Shooting events shall be hosted at Sunjwan training centre of the J&K Armed Police.
