Army teaching unemployed Ramban youth driving skills

RAMBAN, Dec 2: Army is conducting a driving course for the youths of Ramban and nearby villages in Ramban district which will end on December 9, 2018.
The two week long course which started on December 26, 2018 has seen 30 enthusiastic youth registering them to attend the course. In a handout issued here today, Army has said that there is wide unemployment in the region and it is essential to have an extra qualification besides the academic curriculum. This course is aimed to promote skill development amongst the youths and make them self-reliant.
After completion of this training, the Army will also facilitate the participants to obtain Learners and Permanent driving licenses from District transport authority. This initiative by the Army has been appreciated by the local elders and especially the youths, who see it is an opportunity to gain employment as well as enhance their self-esteem.
In Chenab region, Army organises volleyball match
Volleyball has been traditionally a popular game of Chenab region and it is a common sight to see the youth involved in playing the game on available grounds throughout Kishtwar District. In order to provide an opportunity to local youth for showcasing their talent, Indian Army organised a friendly Volleyball Match at Patnazi.
After a competitive and a hard fought match, the team from ‘Patnazi A’ managed to beat their spirited opponents in ‘Patnazi B’ by 2/1 sets. The event witnessed active participation of youth and people from all walks of the society. The response was overwhelming and the locals applauded the efforts put in by the security forces to involve the youth of the region in mainstream activities.
Motivational lecture for admission in Sainik School
With an aim to create awareness and motivate students of class VI and IX, Indian Army organized motivational lecture on admission in Sainik School, Nagrota at Cherji region of Kishtwar district.
The aim of this lecture was to motivate and educate the students about admission procedure of Sainik School, Nagrota in Class VI and IX. A total of 31 Boys, 04 girls and 03 locals attended the lecture. The Sainik School has excelled in its primary role as a feeder institution to the Armed Forces. Students were also informed about how these schools prepare boys academically, physically and mentally for entry into the National Defence Academy and other Paramilitary forces.
During the lecture, prospectus for admission in Sainik School, Nagrota was also distributed to the students. The locals, teachers and students lauded the initiatives and expressed hope that such steps by Army will aid in developing better future of the students of the area.
