Arvind of Tamil Nadu emerges sole leader in Chess

JAMMU, Dec 11: Grand Master (GM) Arvind Chidambram of Tamil Nadu emerged as sole leader after round five of the ongoing Senior National Chess Championship, under the banner of All J&K Chess Association (AJKCA) at Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust in the city outskirts, here today.

Grand Master Anurag Mhamal of Goa and International Master Stany GA of Karnataka followed Arvind on the points table with 4.5 points each. Since a good number of 50 titled players are contesting for the top honours in this Rs 20 lakh prize money National event those in fray from hosts J&K have left with little hopes.

Out of eight participations from the state, only Soham Kamotra (present state champion) and Khalid Amin (previously state top ranked) could do well with three points each out of five outings. Meanwhile, the Top 10 Boards games are being shown live on Internet by expert Ganesh Babu of Tamil Nadu.
