First night flight takes off at Srinagar airport

SRINAGAR, Aug 15: Srinagar Airport has been cleared for night flights with the first night flight taking off from Srinagar Airport to Delhi with nearly 150 passengers on board.

This was informed by Principal Secretary Planning Rohit Kansal while talking about 73rd Independence Day celebrations concluded peacefully across Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. He is also government’s spokesperson, at a daily evening presser here.

He also informed that from today onwards to-and-fro night flight operations would operate from Srinagar to Delhi and the first flight would take off this evening at 7: 15 pm with 150 passengers on board. He said all the three divisions celebrated the Independence Day enthusiastically and the main function was held at Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium, Srinagar where Governor Satya Pal Malik unfurled the National Flag. Kansal further informed that today was the calm and peaceful day as no untoward incident was reported anywhere from Jammu, Kashmir or Ladakh. He said local authorities are reviewing all the decisions to ease the restrictions on the movement of people.
