JAMMU, Mar 15: Government Hospital in Gandhi Nagar Jammu has established a palliative Care Programme and establishing Cancer Treatment Centre to provide Palliative Care Services to patients suffering from Cancer and terminally ill on daily basis.
In-charge Dr. Rohit Lahori has claimed that staff of government Hospital Gandhi Nagar Jammu has been trained for establishing of Palliative Care Treatment Centre for Cancer and Terminally ill patients suffering from non-communicable diseases under National Palliative Care Programme from AIIMS New Delhi in collaboration with MOHFW Govt. of India and APHN Singapore.
In-charge Doctor has started registering and providing services to the patients with daily reporting to the Mentors nominated to this CTC, Dr. Seema Rao Head Respito Palliative Care Project Deptt. Of Palliative Care Medicine TATA Memorial Hospital Mumbai and Dr. Anjum Joad Director Anaesthesia and Palliative Care Medicine, B.M. Cancer Hospital and Research Centre Jaipur, along with the overall supervision of Dr. Sushma Bhatnagar Prof. & Head Onco-Anaesthesia & Palliative Care AIIMS New Delhi. The Palliative Care Services incorporate diseases like Cancer, Liver Diseases HIV/AIDS, COPD, Dementia, Stokes, ALS and End Stage Renal Diseases.
We have so far admitted six patients suffering from End Stage Cancer Diseases under the Palliative Care Programme and provided OPD Services to 15 Patients. Ward No. 9 with 10 Beds Capacity has been designated as Palliative Care Ward, OPD Services will be provided from Room No.215 OPD Block Pain Clinic. Interventional Pain Clinic has been started at Govt. Hospital Gandhi Nagar Jammu on 18.09.2016; more than 425 interventional procedures for pain including Cancer Pains have been performed. And more than 5600 Patients have been provided with OPD services of Pain Clinic.
