JAMMU, Jan 27: Shivani Charak and Asma Gul, two ace sport climbers of the Mountaineering Association of J&K, today left for Bengaluru from Delhi to represent North Zone in the 24th National Sport Climbing Competition being held at Kanteerva Stadium.

Prior to their departure for Bengaluru, both these female climbers had strenuous coaching under a national coach for 11 days at the International standard climbing walls and gym at Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF), New Delhi.

“Whereas Shivani Charak, the reigning national champion in Women category in Lead Climbing and   Bouldering shall try to defend both the crowns and is also expected to put a better show in Speed Climbing in which she secured a silver medal last year, Asma Gul, on the other hand, a dominant force at the Zonal level shall have the opportunity to prove her talents at the national level and bring laurels to the state,” informed general secretary of the Association, Ram Khajuria.

It may be mentioned here that IMF North Zone Committee, New Delhi had selected five climbers of J&K in the North Zone Team but the other three climbers declined to participate in the national competition because of their final exams.
