JKICPS, CRC organize workshop on child protection, rights

JAMMU, JAN 19: Jammu Kashmir Integrated Child Protection Services (JKICPS) and Jammu Kashmir Child Resource Center (JKCRC) organized a one-day workshop for Child Welfare Committees of Jammu Division today.

The workshop aims at providing specialized training to CWCs dealing with procedures and various formats in child protection. The role of CWCs in reference to institutional and non-institutional care was highlighted.

In order to make child rights a reality, emphasis was laid on developing child-friendly environment across the J&K. 

Chairperson Selection-cum-Oversight Committee, Justice Hasnain Masoodi as chief guest on the occasion deliberated on the need of vibrant Child Welfare Committees across J&K. He asked for participative approach and dialogue among all stakeholders for better and secure future of the children. 

G.A. Sofi, State Mission Director ICPS and Chairman JKCRC, highlighted the role of CWCs in the field of Child Rights and emphasized on synergizing efforts of all the stakeholders for ensuring effective implementation of J&K Juvenile Justice Act.

The resource persons, Neha Gandotra, Rahul Sharma, Dr Rouf Mohiudin Malik and Junaid ul Islam, deliberated at length upon different issues and concerns that CWCs and other stakeholders face vis-à-vis Juvenile Justice System and Child Protection in the State.
