Kho-Kho title for Akhnoor zone in U-19 district meet

JAMMU, August 02: The combined side of Akhnoor/Chowki Choura zone bagged Kho-Kho title while Kabaddi final won by Jammu/Dansal and in the inter-zonal under-19 boys’ competitions of district Jammu, organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at different venues, here today.

The competition was declared open by district officer (DYSS) Jammu, Chanchal Kour at Shastri Nagar play field. In the opening ceremony, DYSSO Jammu interacted with participants and advised them for take part in the games in true spirit of sports.

The competition started simultaneously at three different venues of Shastri Nagar, Government High School ground, Jammu Cantonment and MA Stadium, here.  All the conveners and technical officials of concerned events were present during the opening ceremony.

Earlier, Akhnoor zone emerged winner in Kho-Kho final beating Gandhi Nagar zone 10-08 in the final played at Jammu Cantonment ground. Semifinals: Akhnor and Chowki Choura bt Bhalwal and Marh zone by two points and one inning; Akhnoor and Chowki Choura zone bt Gandhi Nagar andSatwari zone 10-08.

Similarly, in Kabaddi final, again played at High School Jammu Cantonment grounds, here Jammu and Dansal zone bt Jourian and Khour 30-17. Semifinals: Jourian and Khour bt Gandhi Nagar and Satwari 15-12; Jammu and Dansal zone bt Akhnoor and Chowki Choura zone 20-15.

The Volleyball title went to Bhalwal and Marh zone, who beat Bishnah and Arnia in straight sets at Play Field Shastri Nagar. Semifinals: Bhalwal and Marh bt Khour and Jourian 2-0; Bishnah and Arnia bt R S Pura 2-0.

WRESTLING: 57 Kg: Sahil Sharma of Dansal and Shubham Kumar of Satwari, 2nd. 61 Kg:   Vishal Singh of Satwari, Ist and Pawan Kumar of R S Pura, 2nd. 65 Kg: Vishal Manhas of RS Pura, 1st and Kamal Preet of Akhnoor, 2nd. 70 kg: Mukhtiar Ali of Bishnah, Ist and Sahil Kumar of Akhnoor, 2nd. 74 kg: Vikas Singh of Khour, Ist . 79 kg: Balwinder Singh of RS Pura, Ist. 86 kg: Jagdish Singh of Dansal, Ist.

Meanwhile, the under-19 boys inter-school district level football meet got underway at GGM Science College ground, here today.
