Jammu, May 7: Responding to the Ramzan crisis of lack of Roohafza available in the Indian market, according to The Print’s report, Hamdard Pakistan has offered to supply RoohAfza and RoohAfza Go to India via Wagah border if the govt. of India allows it.

As per the report, RoohAfza, the sherbet made by Hamdard Laboratories, has been off the market for four to five months now.

Soon after the report, Usama Qureshi, CEO Hamdard, Pakistan made the offer to supply RoohAfza across borders in the month of Ramzan.

RoohAfza was founded by Hakeem Abdul Majeed in 1906. Hamdard (meaning “Sympathizer”) was a Yunani medicine shop in Delhi’s Lal Kuan Bazaar. Around 1907-1908, Hakeem Majeed launched a non-alcoholic medicinal concentrate called ‘Rooh Afza’ (Soul Enhancer) to combat Delhi’s hot loo winds.

During partition, one part of the Hamdard family headed by Hakeem Mohammed Said migrated to Karachi in the new state of Pakistan. Hamdard Pakistan was started from scratch in a two-room rented space. In no time, Hamdard Pakistan became a success.
