PM Modi Biopic postponed; ECI issues notices over TV serials

The biopic based on Prime Minister Narendra Modi starring Vivek Oberoi was set to release on 11th April but Election Commission of India has postponed it till the end of elections.

A day before the release of the film and a day after the Certificate Clearance of the film from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), the biopic has been postponed by ECI stating the reason ‘that any material disturbing the level playing field in favour of any political party or individual should not be displayed.’

Opposition parties had been asking for a ban on the movie in lieu of the Model Code of Conduct ahead of the Lok Sabha Polls.

Election Commission has also issued show cause notices to producers of two popular TV serials Bhabhiji Ghar Pe Hain and Tujhse Hai Raabta for airing episodes promoting Central Govt schemes.

Taking cognizance of complaints of Model Code of Conduct Violation, Election Commission asked channels ZeeTV and &TV to reply within 24 hours.
