Ramnagar girls win twin Volleyball titles


UDHAMPUR, May 22:  Ramnagar zone clinched both under-14 and under-17 Volleyball titles in the inter-zone sports meet of district Udhampur, organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at Sports Stadium, here today.

In the under-14 final, Ramnagar girls defeated their counterparts from Ghordi in straight sets. Similarly, in the under-17 category, Ramnagar zone outplayed Zone Kulwanta 2-0.

The Kho-Kho titles bagged by Zone Chenani in under-14 and under-17 age groups. In the under-14 category, Chenani beat Zone Majalta by 12 points whereas in under-17 age group, Chenani downed Zone Udhampur by six points.

In  Kabaddi under-14 age group, Zone Udhampur beat Zone Panchari by 15 points. The under-17 Kabaddi title went to Zone Panchari, who beat Zone Babey by one point.

Earlier, the competition declared open by district officer (DYSS), Kharati Lal Sharma. He interacted with the participating teams from 10 zones of the district.

The competition officiated by the technical penal comprising Raj kumar Gupta, Raj Kumar Dogra, Vikrant, Pushap Kumar, Rakesh Modi, Rakesh Shawani, Satya Bushan, Kewal Krishan, Ram Kumar, Sourav, Kuldeep Sharma, Sandeep, Ranjeet Singh, Sanjeev Verma and Raman Kumar.

Among those present were ZPEO Panchari, Pawan Sharma; ZPEO Jib, Poonam Sharma; ZPEO Udhampur, Santosh Kumari; ZPEO Ghordi, Jaswinder Singh; Sanjay Gupta, Anupama Sharma, Rakesh Khajuria, Rajesh Sharma, Somdev Khajuria, Deepika Manhas, Jatin sethi, Swarandeep Singh, Vishal Gupta and Raman Gupta, Sourab Pandit, Anshu Khanna, Pallavi Magotra, Pallavi Choudhary, Pooja Sharma Deepak Sharma, Kaval, Vicky Sharma, Sandeep Kumar, Vipin Potra, Ravi Kumar, Kewal Krishan and Radha.
