SMVDU Annual Sports Fest ‘SARANG-2K19’ Concludes


Jammu, May 10: Annual Sports Fest ‘SARANG’of SMVDU, Katra concludes.

Vice Chancellor Prof. D. Mukhopadhyay was the chief guest for the valedictory function. It was a three months long event including a total of five houses of students. Different games included in the event were Cricket, Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton, Table-Tennis, Lawn Tennis, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Athletics, Open Marathon, Chess, E-Sports etc. Vayu House clinched the overall first position while Prithivi house bagged the second spot. Mr Sucha Singh, Mr Balbir Singh and Mr Sumit Sharma officiated the matches along with different coordinators of respective games.

The valedictory function started with the welcome speech by Faculty I/c Sports Rajiv Kumar. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. D. Mukhopadhyay emphasized the value of sports in students life and appreciated the efforts of the sports department. Best emerging and overall best players were honoured in the ceremony. Winners of Employee Cricket and Badminton tournaments were also honoured. Ms. Muskan Sharma anchored the proceedings of the ceremony. Mr. Karthik presented the vote of thanks. The dignitaries present during the ceremony were Dean Student Welfare, Dr. Yugal Khajuria, Prof. Ashok Kumar Sharma, Dr. Suparn Sharma, Mr. Vinod Sharma (Administrative Officer), Dr. Ekta Rai, Mr. Mir Irfan ul Haq, Mr. Ankush Raina, Ms. Shaivya Manhas.
