Tral Gunfight: Internet service suspended

JAMMU, JAN 03: Authorities on Thursday snapped the Internet service in police district Awantipora following the gunfight between militants and forces in Gulshanpora area of south Kashmir’s Tral town of Pulwama district.

At least six civilians were injured in clashes with the government forces in Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday.

Intense clashes erupted in several areas of Tral including the main town soon after a gunfight broke out between the militants and the forces in Gulshanpora area today morning.

Reports said that soon after a gunfight broke out, the authorities suspended the Internet service in police district Awantipora which includes Pampore, Awantipora and Tral.

Earlier a joint team of army’s 42 RR, SOG of Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF launched the operation after the militant movement was detected in the area.

As the joint team of forces intensified searches, the hiding militants fired upon government forces triggering a gunfight.

The exchange of firing was going on when last reports came in.
