Whatsapp launches Fact-Check for fake news ahead of elections

According to a news report, Whatsapp has teamed up with a news service Checkpoint Tipline along with Indian start-up Proto to curb the menace of fake news.

A week before General Elections 2019, WhatsApp has taken certain measures to check the information passed around on this social media platform. Whatsapp has also teamed up with Dig Deeper Media and Meedan for putting a check on fake news.

All users need to do is add the number +91-9643000888 to their contacts and WhatsApp them the text or image message which is dubious.

The news will then be verified and WhatsApp will respond with True, False, Misleading, Disputed or out of scope.
